Cheri Chambers
Cheri became interested in infant swimming following the near drowning of her youngest child in l981. Her child survived her ordeal with no lasting effects. Cheri then trained with a national organization to teach infants and small children survival techniques. Cheri taught with the Orlando Recreation Department for two years. She become a member of the US Swim School Association in 1995 and started her own swim school at that time. Her knowledge of swimming has evolved from many conferences with USSSA and has taught children in the Conway area since 1982. Cheri is a member of the World Aquatic Baby Congress.
She holds certifications in CPR (child and adult) and First Aid. Her classes run from April until October, afternoon classes only for children 8 months and older.
Due to the near drowning of her daughter, Cheri feels strongly in teaching children to love, while respecting the water in a loving, tender environment. She feels that a child, who is comfortable with her, will learn to swim and float without fear. She will first, establish a “friendship” with your child, so that they trust her. Then, she will begin showing them how to swim and get the wall and float safely
She has worked with children with special needs such as spina bifida, hearing and vision impaired and Downs syndrome. These children must have a Doctors note to enroll.
Cheri Chambers is a member of the U.S. Swim School Association and has completed the Theory of Infant
Swimming and Infant Swimming certification program offered by U.S. Swim School Association. Cheri is CPR and First Aid Certified.
